In the face of ongoing systemic injustice, staying silent is not an option. And on October 27th we will be OUTSPOKEN. Spurred by recent events—including outrage surrounding the Cornell 7 and LSU rape cases—and collective exhaustion with pervasive rape culture, this third installment of the Outspoken YA panel series brings together a community of authors and readers to reflect on this current moment.

Our panel will begin with a grounding exercise led by trauma-informed clinical psychologist Dr. Lauren of Muddy Lotus Therapy Collective. And then join YA authors Rocky Callen, Annie Cardi, Kim DeRose, Madeline Claire Franklin, Sonia Patel, Amber Smith, and Rebecca Stafford as we discuss how books can serve as a space to metabolize rage, challenge harmful narratives, and actively resist rape culture.

All tickets are donation based, with donations going to the GoFundMe for Cornell 7’s Jane Doe and LSU’s Kendall Francis.

AND when you register you’re automatically entered to win books from all panelists plus books from additional YA authors resisting rape culture.

Because in a culture designed to silence us, the most radical act is to be outspoken.
